Daintree Rainforest Photos from Noah Creek

All of these Daintree rainforest photos were taken on the Noah Creek reserve, a private 500-acre property at Thornton Beach surrounded by World Heritage National Park. They show what a stay here is really like: creek pools and waterfalls on our private trails, bike rides along Thornton Beach, campfires at night, and the wildlife that shares the reserve with our guests. Everything you see is a short walk or drive from your hut or lodge.

Trek & Trails

Eight graded trails run through Noah Valley, and only our guests can walk them. In these photos you’ll find the rusted machinery of the old sawmill on the Mill Trail, the creek pool at Dragon’s Hole, the boulder hop up to Fossil Falls and the boardwalk along the river. The Quarry to Beach Trail finishes on the sand at Thornton Beach. See every trail’s grade and walking time.

Things to do

Between walks, guests swim under waterfalls, fish the tidal flats at Thornton Beach at dusk, ride bikes along the sand and finish the day around the campfire. Children can spend hours in the clear, shallow creeks. The reserve also hosts weddings. Couples marry at The River House and have their photos taken among the buttressed rainforest trees and on the boardwalk.

Flora & Fauna

The Daintree is one of the oldest rainforests on Earth, and the reserve is full of life. Our photos include green tree snakes on the creek stones, kookaburras, black butcherbirds, an orange-footed scrubfowl on its nest mound and a Victoria’s riflebird fanning its tail in display. Look down for red fungi and tree ferns, and up for flying foxes roosting in the canopy. Guests often spot cassowaries too.
